Dipers: Colorado Baby Origins

Megan Alfaro, founder and owner of Colorado Baby, tells how a personal need grew into a well-loved local business. She opened the store 18 years ago because she couldn't find cloth diapers nearby. Four years later, with her fourth child at home, she moved into her current Main Street location.

Diapers didn't earn much profit, so Megan started stocking products she used herself: natural and alternative goods, organic clothing, wooden toys, baby carriers, good shoes for kids' feet, and items made in the USA when she could.

Over time, Megan saw that Colorado Baby had become more than a store. It's a community hub with playdate meetups, where moms feel seen and supported by someone going through the same stage of life. Today, parents still stop her to say she helped with their baby carrier when their child was a newborn, and that child is now 12. For Megan, serving these families is an honor.
